Anya:
Hey everyone! Welcome back to Tech Talk Café your chill corner for all things gadgets reviews and a little friendly tech debate over a virtual cup of coffee.
Ravi:
What’s up folks? This episode’s gonna be spicy. We’re diving into the Realme Narzo 80 Pro 5G — a phone that’s been grabbing attention in the under20K segment but not everyone’s convinced it’s a slam dunk.
Anya:
I mean… for under 20K you’re getting a lot! But yeah I get it. It’s not perfect. So we’re breaking it down today — the good the bad and the whydoesthisexist.
Ravi (laughs):
Exactly. So grab your chai or cold brew and let’s get into it.
1. First Impressions & Design
Anya:
Alright let’s start with design. I actually like how this phone looks. It’s sleek has that nice ripple effect on the back and feels solid in the hand.
Ravi:
It’s decent. The polycarbonate back looks good from a distance but once you hold it it’s clearly plastic. No glass no metal frame — just your average Realme design. Very… familiar.
Anya:
Yeah but it keeps it lightweight! And for a budgetfriendly phone I don’t expect a ceramic body. It’s stylish enough for everyday use.
Ravi:
I’ll give you that. And the camera module? Not too bulky. At least it’s not copying iPhones this time.
2. Display – 120Hz AMOLED Panel
Anya:
Now here’s a win — 6.7inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. For this price point? Come on that’s impressive.
Ravi:
Yep no argument there. The panel is bright has punchy colors and the high refresh rate makes scrolling super smooth. This is probably one of the best parts of the phone.
Anya:
Watching content on this is actually a treat. Netflix YouTube Insta — everything looks crisp.
Ravi:
True but here’s my gripe: there’s no HDR10+ support and outdoor brightness isn’t flagshiplevel. You’ll struggle under direct sunlight.
Anya:
Fair but again — for the price I think it overdelivers here.
3. Performance – MediaTek Dimensity 7050
Ravi:
Let’s talk power. The Narzo 80 Pro is rocking the Dimensity 7050 which is basically a rebranded Dimensity 920. So… not new.
Anya:
Still solid though! It handles daily tasks really well — switching apps social media video editing even casual gaming.
Ravi:
Agreed. But when you push it — like playing Genshin Impact or heavy multitasking — you feel the limitations. Throttling happens after 15–20 minutes.
Anya:
So not for hardcore gamers. But for 90% of people who just browse watch scroll and game occasionally it holds up.
Ravi:
Okay. But this chipset was released in 2021 under a different name. That doesn’t sit well with me for a 2024 release.
4. Software – Realme UI 5.0 (Android 14)
Anya:
Alright what about the software? It comes with Android 14 out of the box which is refreshing! Realme UI 5.0 has come a long way.
Ravi:
I’ll admit Realme’s done some cleaning up. It feels snappy and animations are better now. But…
Anya:
Uhoh here it comes.
Ravi:
…bloatware. Still way too many preinstalled apps. And notifications from builtin apps? Annoying.
Anya:
Agreed. I had to uninstall like 10 things on day one. But once you do that the experience is pretty good. And they promised 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security patches.
Ravi:
Two years is just okay. Nothing special. Brands like Samsung are doing four years in this same range now.
5. Camera – 50MP Sony IMX890 Sensor
Anya:
Now let’s talk camera — 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor. I was surprised! That’s a flagshipgrade sensor.
Ravi:
Yep the same sensor found in some phones double the price. Realme did something smart here.
Anya:
Daylight shots are sharp color science is nice — not too saturated just right. And the dynamic range is better than expected.
Ravi:
True. But the secondary sensors are basically useless — 2MP macro? Why even bother?
Anya:
That’s fair. And night photography isn’t amazing either. It softens details and struggles with moving subjects.
Ravi:
Selfie camera is okay too — 16MP decent skin tones. Not the best for low light though.
Anya:
Still I’d say overall camera performance punches above its weight.
6. Battery & Charging – 5000mAh + 67W
Ravi:
Battery life is a win. 5000mAh easily lasts a day even with heavy use.
Anya:
Totally. And the 67W charging is crazy fast. I went from 15% to 80% in like 25 minutes.
Ravi:
Same. Realme’s charging tech is always toptier. That’s one area where they consistently beat Samsung and Motorola in this range.
Anya:
And the phone doesn’t heat up much while charging which is nice.
7. Network & Audio
Anya:
5G works well. Dual SIM multiple bands. Calls are clear signal is stable.
Ravi:
Yup no complaints there. But speakers? Meh. It’s just a single speaker at the bottom. For this price I expected stereo.
Anya:
That’s one of my biggest letdowns too. Even some cheaper phones have stereo speakers now.
Ravi:
Also no headphone jack. I know we’re moving on but for Narzo’s youthfocused branding this feels like a miss.
8. Pricing & Competitors
Anya:
So the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage starts at ₹18999. Pretty competitive right?
Ravi:
It’s okay. But you’ve got tough competition now — iQOO Z9 Redmi Note 13 Poco X5 Pro. All in the same range all with some advantage.
Anya:
I still think this stands out for camera and charging.
Ravi:
Maybe. But for someone looking at longterm software support or clean UI I’d go elsewhere.
9. Final Verdict – Worth Buying?
Anya:
Alright final thoughts. I think the Realme Narzo 80 Pro 5G is great for casual users students and content lovers. Great screen fast charging solid camera — definitely worth it under 20K.
Ravi:
For basic users yeah it delivers. But if you’re a gamer power user or someone who wants longer update cycles and stereo audio you might want to explore other options.
Anya:
So it’s not perfect but it offers real value.
Ravi:
Exactly. If Realme cleaned up the bloatware and gave stereo speakers this could’ve been a knockout.

Anya:
